BACKGROUND
Pistorius Machine Company is a family-owned company that has been in continuous operation since its inception in 1937. The company was founded by Carl Pistorius, a German immigrant who was trained as a fine machinist. The company began with the manufacture of precision abrasive cut-off machines designed to cut glass, ceramics, exotic metals, etc.

After World War II, the company's management was succeeded by Albert Pistorius after the retirement of his father. The company continued to prosper and grow, and in addition to the abrasive cut-off saws, new lines of machinery for the aluminum window and door industry were developed. In the early 1960's further growth brought the company into the field of woodworking. At this time, picture framing and cabinet making were developing from a craft or cottage industry, and Pistorius Machine Company was instrumental in the development of mitering, fastening and finishing equipment that assisted in promoting the rapid growth of these industries.

In 1977, the company relocated from Hicksville, New York to its present location in Hauppauge, New York. During the 1980's, machinery was developed to accommodate the transition from aluminum to vinyl (PVC) in the window and door industries. In 1986, the company's management was succeeded by Robert Pistorius after the retirement of his father. Continued growth required the expansion of the Hauppauge plant in 1995.

Whereas the sale of machinery to the US market constitutes the bulk of sales, exports have continued to grow, particularly in the last ten years. Machinery has been exported to China, South Korea, Australia, South America, Mexico, Central America, India, South Africa, Europe, Russia, Canada, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Santa Domingo, etc.

Manufacturing facilities include a fully equipped machine shop with CNC machining centers and fully computerized engineering facilities utilizing state of the art CAD technology. Parts inventories are continuously maintained for same-day shipment to virtually anywhere in the world.
